What in-ear EEG is

EEG, or electroencephalography, measures the small electrical signals your neurons produce. Clinics capture it with a cap of scalp electrodes. Zone captures it with sensors in the ear tips, close to the brain and hidden inside a product you already wear. The mechanism is the same in both cases: soft electrodes rest against the skin and pick up the brain's electrical rhythms as they shift with attention, effort, and rest. What is new is the placement. Peer-reviewed work on conformal in-ear bioelectronics has shown that electrodes worn inside the ear can capture enough usable signal to drive real brain-computer interfaces, no lab in sight.

Why the ear

The ear canal sits near the temporal lobe and stays still while you work, which makes it a stable, discreet place to read brain activity. You get continuous focus tracking without a visible device or a clinical setup. Stability matters as much as proximity. Scalp electrodes shift as you move, talk, and gesture, and every shift adds noise. The ear canal holds an earbud tip in gentle, constant contact, so motion artifact stays low while you type, sip coffee, or pace on a call.
